Major news for the BTS army! BTS is going on a short ‘hiatus’ break!
HYBE, the band’s talent management company, confirms all the members of the BTS music company are on their way to serving mandatory military service in South Korea.
The music house stated that Jin, a BTS member, is starting his process as early as the end of October. Others will follow as and when requested.
BTS members announced that each of them is taking a break from group projects and will now focus on individual projects only.
All South Korean physically fit men between the ages of 18 and 28 must serve for between 18 and 21 months in the military as part of measures to guard against a nuclear-armed North Korea. However, several groups—including medalists from the Olympics and Asian Games, classical musicians, and dance competition winners have received exemptions or had their periods reduced.
The matter of BTS members serving in the military has always been controversial. The majority of South Koreans, not just the group’s ardent supporters known as the Army, according to certain polls, believe the members should be exempted from military service or given an alternative. Even several politicians have demanded BTS exemption.
By now, the promise of reuniting in the year 2025 is all the BTS army can look forward to.
