Get That Glow – How to Make Ubtan for Diwali?

Diwali — the grand festival of joy, glittering lights, beautiful decorations, and a load of sweets! Isn’t it one of the most exciting times of the year? No wonder you want to look your best on the five auspicious Diwali days!

Of course, your makeup skills will make you shine for the Diwali pooja and party. But if you want to glow and flaunt utter skin radiance, ubtan shall be your best friend!

If you’ve never heard of ubtan, let us knock on the right memory doors of your brain. Do you recall the yellow Haldi paste applied to the bride and groom at Indian weddings? That is ubtan, a traditional Ayurvedic formula to cleanse the body and skin.

Like the Haldi ceremony, it is a ritual to bathe with ubtan powder on the first day of Diwali or Narak Chaturdashi

Despite various face packs available in the market, you can never find a better alternative to homemade ubtan for Diwali. The best part is that it is easy to make ubtan for Diwali at home with only a few staple kitchen ingredients.

In this blog, we bring these easy and effective ubtan recipes for you to get a festive glow at home.

Homemade Ubtans for Diwali to Get the Glow

9 Ubtan Recipes for Beautiful and Radiant Skin

Almond and Oatmeal Body Ubtan

Grind eight almonds (soaked overnight and skin removed) into a fine powder. Now add a cup of gram flour and half a cup of oats. Add a tablespoon of neem powder, a dash of turmeric, and roughly a half teaspoon of fennel seed powder. Mix rose water to create a thick paste.

Apply this paste to your body, then give it time to dry. When the paste gets completely dried, carefully scrub it off, and rinse it with water. If you have dry skin, make the paste using milk in place of water.

It is one of the best homemade ubtans, with all the essential components necessary to balance and retexturize your skin.

To prepare this ubtan, combine 1 tablespoon each of overnight-soaked black lentils (black urad dal) and green lentils (green moong dal). Grind them and add half a teaspoon of white sandalwood powder, half a teaspoon of red sandalwood powder, a dash of turmeric, and rose water to make a thick paste.

To remove tan, apply it to the face and rinse after 10 minutes.

Rice Powder and Besan for Blemishes

In a bowl, mix 1/2 tbsp of gram flour and rice flour. Then add rose water, sandalwood powder, and a few drops of sesame seed oil. Combine all these ingredients thoroughly, then apply them to your face and body before taking a bath. Use red sandalwood powder to get rid of blemishes. Besan works to cleanse your skin pores while rice flour tightens them.

Apply this quick magic paste before bathing.  Use this instead of soap to achieve a glow in only two minutes.

Besan, Milk, and Lemon Juice Ubtan for Skin Whitening

To prepare this ubtan for Diwali, take eight tablespoons of besan; this will make plenty for a week. Take three large lemons and squeeze their juice to mix with the besan. Pour one cup of milk into the lemon and besan mixture to get a paste-like consistency. If you feel that your ubtan is too thick, add extra milk. Mix thoroughly after adding a dash of turmeric powder.

Before you bathe, apply the ubtan on your body. Keep for ten minutes, then thoroughly massage before washing.

We know that turmeric provides radiant, flawless skin. It also aids in skin whitening, tan removal, treating acne, and reducing hyperpigmentation. On the other hand, sesame seeds have anti-inflammatory qualities, heal wrinkles and acne, stop dryness, enhance blood circulation, and aid in cell renewal. This ubtan is quite simple to prepare and delivers stunning effects.

Take 2-3 tablespoons of sesame seeds, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1-2 teaspoons of turmeric. Thoroughly grind them to obtain a fine powder. Form a thick paste by mixing it with water. Apply this paste to your entire body and face, then let it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with water. Your skin will get clear and glowing.

Orange Peel Powder Ubtan for Glowy Skin

You can make this ubtan by combining two large tablespoons of plain, powdered oats, one teaspoon of turmeric (Haldi), one large tablespoon of Kasturi Manjal (Amba Haldi powder), and one teaspoon of orange peel powder.

For bright skin, combine everything well with curd, milk, or rose water before applying it to the face, neck, and chin. Rinse off after 10 minutes.

Besan and Tomato Juice Ubtan for Acne Prone Skin

This ubtan recipe might be your Diwali savior if you struggle with acne and pimples. For this ubtan, you’ll need tomato juice, rosewater, 2 to 3 teaspoons of lemon juice, 1 to 2 tablespoons of besan powder, and 1 to 2 tablespoons of sesame powder. It will clean up your skin and address your acne issues.

Form a thick paste by mixing the ingredients. Apply it on the acne-prone regions. If the issue is serious, add 4-5 drops of tea tree oil. Before washing it off, let it stay for 15 minutes.

Before the Diwali celebrations, make this your everyday buddy.

Various nuts, including almonds, flaxseeds, pistachios, and cashew nuts, are included in this potent ubtan mix. This nut-rich ubtan is excellent for the skin.

Saffron and red lentil powder are also included in the preparation to increase the ubtan’s potency. Saffron is a miracle plant for whitening and brightening skin. Additionally, powdered dried orange peel is also added and utilized in this recipe.

Mix all the powdered nuts and then add a few drops of rose water to the mixture (all of the components listed above are taken in half-tablespoon portions and combined). Mix the ingredients to create a thick paste, then gently spread it over your skin. Once you wash it off with water, you’ll fall in love with your skin right away.

Milk Powder and Yogurt Ubtan for Skin Complexion

This ubtan helps reduce skin tans and bring back your natural skin tone. Before Diwali, use this ubtan every day to restore your radiance. Yogurt is beneficial for moisturizing and whitening the skin. Milk powder is also helpful to get rid of stubborn sun damage.

Mix 1 tablespoon of gram flour, turmeric, milk powder, and yogurt to make a thick paste. Sesame oil is a suggested addition to the recipe. To get the effects you want, apply this to your body and face for 20 minutes before bathing.

Everybody wants to have healthy-looking skin, and ubtan is the oldest and purest cosmetic that can help you get there.

If you’re still not sure why you should put the effort into making ubtan and apply it to your body and face daily, have a look at these ubtan benefits. They show why ubtan has continued popularity as a natural skincare product.

Ubtan Enhances the Natural Radiance

The skin feels refreshed after gentle exfoliation using natural substances like gram flour and rice flour. Sandalwood powder is well renowned for enhancing the complexion of the skin. You may acquire clear, glowing skin by regularly exfoliating your body and face with ubtan.

Ubtan Thoroughly Cleans the Skin

All beautification regimens promote the value of thorough skin cleansing. Choosing the best cleanser, though, maybe a nightmare. We end up spending a lot of money on high-end face cleansers only to get disheartened when they cause skin breakouts or dry skin.

You may forget about all that trouble and trust Ubtan to rid your body of all pollutants and dirt. Even with only one application of ubtan, you will notice a significant change.

The main component of ubtan, turmeric, makes the skin seem young by reversing the effects of aging. Antioxidants in turmeric help to revive the skin’s lost shine and hydration. Additionally, turmeric reduces skin flakiness and repairs sun and pollution-damaged skin.

Additionally, the sandalwood and turmeric in ubtan function as natural toners and fight acne.

Ubtan Aids in Removing Ingrown and Facial Hair

Many people feel insecure about ingrown body hair and facial hair. Even though ubtan cannot completely eradicate hair, exfoliating your skin with it results in the natural eradication of certain ingrown and facial hair. In the past, ubtan was used to massage newborns’ bodies and delicately remove their hair.

Note: For allergies, always do a patch test. If you have sensitive skin, sometimes even natural products might trigger allergies or skin rashes. Remember that children under the age of eight should not use this ubtan since their skin is sensitive, tender, and eight times thinner than that of adults.

Now that you’ve got this recipe, feel free to put your creative and innovative skills to use by mixing and matching other ingredients, like herbal oils and other skin-friendly items. The natural ingredients in an ubtan work together to clean out your pores, tighten up your skin and stimulate blood flow to give it that healthy, rosy glow. Ditch those chemical products and try this instead! You’ll be glad you did.
