Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk has denied the reports by the New York Times, which says he plans to lay off Twitter workers to avoid payouts.

He replied to a Twitter user asking about the layoffs, saying, “This is false.”

After an extremely long process, legal drama, bad memes, and chaos, Mr. Musk finally became the official Twitter owner on October 28, 2022. After his $44 billion acquisition deal came through, the billionaire tweeted this – 

Amidst several events, journalist Eric Umansky took to his official Twitter handle and shared a screenshot of a New York Times report, revealing Musk’s strategy of firing people. The report said Mr. Musk had ordered major job cuts across Twitter’s workforce. It would happen after November 2, when workers were due to receive grants of shares in the company as a significant part of their pay deals.

However, Musk denied these allegations in response to the tweet.

As Mr. Musk’s first order of business after officially owning Twitter, Musk fired the company’s chief executive Parag Agrawal and its chief financial officer and head of safety.
