#RIPTwitter Trending, on Twitter: Offices Shut, Employees Fired & Resigned

Ever since Elon Musk took over Twitter, there’s been a lot of chaos. But the recent events probably throw Twitter into pitless chaos.

On Friday, Musk gave an ultimatum to employees to choose whether to quit or stay on Twitter. “Stay with the company working long hours at high intensity or quit with three months’ severance pay”, is what the deadline highlighted.

Following this, hundreds of Twitter employees appeared to have decided to depart with three months of severance pay. The mass resignation comes with a ‘#RIPTwitter’ trend launched by the employees.

Around midnight, company officials sent emails to employees stating all Twitter buildings were being temporarily closed, effective immediately, and that their ability to renter with ID access was being suspended for the time being.

As per the reports, as the deadline hit, hundreds of employees started posting farewell messages on Slack. The same happened on Twitter.

Here’s a video of a Twitter employee and his colleagues counting down the seconds to Musk’s deadline and announcing they have decided to leave.

It’s not clear how many Twitter employees have left yet. However, a Reuters report states that a version of the Twitter app used by employees began slowing down Thursday night.

While we are still looking out for the exact figure, one thing is certain. You can trust Musk to unleash any chaos! Just 2 weeks ago, he announced Twitter will charge $8 per month for the “blue tick”. Later, he suspended the strategy!
