Remember the Blue Badge Subscription on Twitter? It Has Now Been Suspended After the Emerge of Many Fake Accounts

After Elon Musk announced the introduction of the blue tick subscription fee, there were many uproars. It was an excellent idea to some people, and others wondered why you’d pay all that amount just for a tick!

Even before Twitter fully implemented the blue-tick payment strategy,  they suspended it on Friday. They did this due to the many verified account pages that had emerged after the announcement. The platform has to think about the viability of this decision.

Before Elon Musk took over Twitter, the blue tick verification was only provided to high-profile people. This included those in the entertainment industry, politics, journalism, and more. This helped in curbing impersonation.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, however, decided to change the blue-badge verification policy. He was to allow anyone to own it as long as they paid a subscription of $8. Even before this was fully implemented, fake accounts became more prevalent. Some fake accounts, such as Tesla and SpaceX, have created the blue tick.

At this point, you can find two verified accounts: those verified before Elon Musk purchased Twitter and those that got the blue tick after paying the subscription fee of $8.

According to experts, Elon Musk started charging for the blue badge since purchasing Twitter at $44 billion was too expensive. Furthermore, he has billion-dollar shares from his Tesla company and sought funding from the market.

People need to learn the way forward on Twitter following his leadership. We can wait and see what other changes he’ll implement. However, as of now, most companies are not advertising on Twitter.

This prompted Musk to share an email to the employees saying that the company might not survive the upcoming economic downtown. Therefore, it must earn revenue through subscriptions following the fall in advertising income.
