There’s hardly anyone who has not fallen prey to the binge-watching culture. Almost everyone uses a video streaming platform, either theirs or someone else’s! So for you all, there’s good news!
Amazon Prime launched a new subscription plan that’s cheaper than ever! This new mobile-only plan, known as Prime Video Mobile Edition, was launched on Nov 07, Monday. It’s a single-user plan that will only be available on mobile devices priced at Rs. 599 per year.
The new plan is the cheapest way to access the subscription service in India. It’s for less than half the cost of its general prime video subscription, which is Rs 1499 for a yearly subscription or Rs 179 for a month.
However, you should know that the new plan has certain limitations –
- It will only give access to one user and one smartphone.
- The subscribers of the new service will have access to all videos on the platform in standard definition (SD) format.
- The mobile subscription plan will not offer access to multiple profiles or streaming content up to 4K resolution on computers and smart TVs.
Regardless, you can tune in to Amazon Originals, live cricket matches, and enjoy all Prime Video features like X-ray powered by IMDb and the ability to download shows for offline viewing.

This seems to be a well-calibrated Amazon move to target smartphone users who form a major chunk of OTT consumers and take on Netflix and Disney+Hotstar’s mobile plan. While the Amazon Prime Video mobile edition costs Rs 50 per month, Netflix’s mobile plan is priced at Rs 149 per month, and the Disney+Hotstar mobile subscription is Rs 41 per month.
No matter what platform you choose to watch movies or web series, each of these promises a good streaming experience.
